DATA SCIENCE PROGRAM begins

KIM LASCOLA NEEDY becomes the 10th dean of the College of Engineering and the first woman to lead the college.
December 2020
JIA DI, faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering since 2004, becomes department head of CSCE.
The Civil Engineering Research and Education Center is named for alumnus GRADY E. HARVELL in honor of his support of the project. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1972 and is the president and COO of W&W|AFCO Steel.

CHRISTA HESTEKIN is named interim head of the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering.
July 2021
The Civil Engineering Department and the College of Engineering celebrate the completion of the GRADY E. HARVELL CIVIL ENGINEERING RESEARCH AND EDUCATION CENTER, or CEREC.
AHMED MAHMOUD joins the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering as a teaching assistant professor.
NORMAN DENNIS, University Professor of civil engineering and senior associate dean, retires after 25 years.
RICK COUVILLION, associate department head of mechanical engineering, retires after 40 years.
August 2021
WAN SHOU joins the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an assistant professor.
KEISHA AND KEITH WALTERS join the college. Keisha Walters is the Kevin W. and Marie L. Brown Department Head Chair in Chemical Engineering and Keith holds the Twenty-first Century Professorship in Mechanical Engineering II.
KEVIN HALL becomes associate dean for academics and HEATHER NACHTMANN returns as the associate dean for research.
