Benjamin Runkle is an assistant professor of biological and agricultural engineering. His research focuses on greenhouse gases, specifically the carbon cycle and the production of methane.
Why did you choose to teach and research in your field?
I love the environment and enjoy figuring out how water flows around the landscape.
What’s your favorite thing about teaching at the U of A?
I love the students here. Very excited to learn and to apply class-room ideas to the ‘real world’.
What words of advice do you have for engineering students?
Take your pre-reqs as quickly as possible so you have time to think about certificate programs and study abroad opportunities. I’d also push everyone to take a computer programming course as it’s a skill that will pay off time and again.
